As a United Methodist Church, we are part of the second largest denomination in America; a denomination that has Churches in almost every city in the country and a foot print of mission and ministry around the world. We have had the honor of influencing this area for almost 150 years. We are a Church and denomination that celebrates faith, community and mission. We believe Christ transforms us and our charge is to transform the world.
The United Methodist family is undergirded by the historic doctrines of the Christian faith. We are an orthodox church with traditional views about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, conversion, salvation, and heaven. We celebrate the divinity of Christ and the fact of His Resurrection. We believe in the Trinity. We believe the Bible is authoritative, inspired and our guide for faith and practice. We emphasize grace and celebrate two sacraments; Holy Communion and Baptism.
We also are a very welcoming Church, with open hearts, open minds, and open doors. We ask questions. We wrestle with difficult issues. We explore our faith with heart, soul, and mind.
Central to the history of the United Methodist denomination is two core values.
